You can now specify the style of most messages sent by the bot to you. The choices are default, standard or embedded. The most notable difference in this early implementation is that embedded messages contain a colored bar to the left of the message. You can select which message style you prefer in the user interface and if you choose embedded, the color of the bar to the left of message. You can access the user interface with the user command, once there go to the User Settings > Message Style section.

**Default**

If you select default, the message style used will be determined by each server's administrator when you use the bot in their server and standard when you use the bot in a direct message.

**Standard or Embedded**

If you select standard or embedded and you use the bot in a server and the server administrator permits you to override the server's message style settings, the bot will send messages intended for you in your preferred message style. If the server administrator does not permit members to override the server's message style settings, the message style used will be up to the server administrator - standard or embedded.

Summary: Admin Setting Change

We have noticed an increasing number of members who attempt to impersonate StockBot and/or StockBot support representatives. While some appear to do so for humor, unfortunately others do so for more malicious reasons including to try and manipulate other members for the impersonators own profit. For example, sending messages recommending members buy/sell specific securities which StockBot does not do.

To prevent confusion and protect StockBot and members in servers who use it, we have decided to step up enforcement of our existing terms of service regarding such.

Going forward, those members with the term StockBot and/or similar variations in their original member name or nickname will now get any message they send in a server in which StockBot is in deleted, when possible. On the first occurrence a direct message will be sent to the member explaining what they can do to resolve the issue. This includes:

1) Changing their member name to one that does not include the term StockBot and/or similar variations.
2) Leaving any servers that contain StockBot.
3) Getting StockBot removed from any servers they use.

To those members that persist after being notified, additional actions may occur including continued deletion of messages, kicking member from server, blocking member from access to bot and in cases where a server's administrators are contacted and not cooperative in resolving an ongoing case, removing bot from a server.

Although increasing, fortunately this issue is still very rare overall and thus will not effect the vast majority of StockBot users. We just wanted to let everyone know about the changes in enforcement. Thank you for your understanding.

For those with access to administrative interface with admin command, you can now enable symbol detection in messages under Auto Moderation > Symbols section.

The feature enables the bot to detect ticker symbols in messages when they begin with a prefix you have specified. Then, depending on your settings, the bot either replies with a custom message or another bot's command containing the symbol. This repeats for each symbol up to your specified limit set in administrative interface.

It can be used for example to send helpful links with the symbols embedded into the links or a command for another bot with the symbol auto inserted.

Summary: New Admin Setting(s)

For those with access to administrative interface using admin command you can now specify under the role command settings, roles you want your members to be able to add/remove to/from themselves.

This can be useful in cases where you wish to notify only some of your members which have requested notification instead of sending out a `@everyone` mention and potentially bothering members that are not interested.

For example, you could create roles for different types of alerts or announcements that only some member would be interested in and choose to be notified about. We use it in our own server so members can get notified only about types of bot announcements they are interested in.

For detailed setup instructions, visit the following section of the administrative interface:

Command Settings > Categories > Server > Role

Once there, click on the Help link in the "Self Assigned Roles" section.

Summary: Admin Setting Change

The character limit in Stock Bot's custom message form fields in administrative interface has been changed to 4000 characters. Discord allows 2000 characters per message so with a limit of 4000 characters, form field messages containing more than 2000 characters will be split by Stock Bot into two messages at the closest line break.

For those using more than 4000 characters, please reduce the size of your messages to comply with the new limit as after a grace period messages longer than 4000 characters may be automatically shortened or removed.

If you have a need for more than 4000 characters (for example for your server's rules, terms of service or privacy policy), please consider instead entering a short message that includes a link to a web page at your site or a link to a channel on your Discord server where the full textual information can be read.

It has come to our attention that, at some point in the past, the points command with the setup parameter stopped creating roles and channels based on the titles in admin interface as it was supposed to do. The issue has been fixed.

If you have the bot's points system enabled AND you tried using the points command with the setup parameter AND the channels and roles were not created AND you did not alternatively create them manually, please try running the command again by typing !points setup in a text channel of your server.

If your server does not use the points feature or it does but you do not want to create roles and channels based on each points level, please ignore this announcement.

In order to help comply with Discord's API terms of service relating to the maximum number of messages that may be sent over various time periods, the following changes have been or will soon be put into place with market alerts and custom alerts. Details may be viewed by clicking the Requirements & Limitations link in each section.

Minimum Server Members

Servers must have a minimum number of members in order to use market and custom alerts. If your server does not currently meet the minimum number of members criteria, any custom and market alerts have been auto paused. They may be re-activated once your server meets the minimum number required as specified in each areas Requirements & Limitations section.

Maximum Number of Alerts

There are limits on the total number of market alerts and total number of custom alerts.

There are limits on the total number of market alerts by type.

There are limits on the total number of custom alerts having a 15/30/60 minute frequency,

There are limits on the total number of custom alerts using certain commands.

If your server has market or custom alerts in excess of the total or individual limits, they have been or will soon be auto paused.

For market alerts of type Open/Close the option to set the country to All is no longer supported. Any existing alerts containing such have been removed.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding as we continue to seek alternative solutions that would remove or reduce these requirements and/or limits.

In the Market Alerts > Trading Halts section of administrative interface you can now toggle whether you want the details of any limits you specified to be displayed in market alert output. The default has been changed to not show the limit details to help make the alerts more brief. If you specified any limits and prefer they be shown in output, please edit your halt market alert(s).

For consistency, the block of halt alerts during pre-market and after hours sessions has been changed to one of the limits. All current accounts that had specified such a block in their alerts have had their halt market alert adjusted automatically to reflect the change in the setting.

Finally, the lines in output for the resumption of quotes and trading will now only show if such has occurred.

In the Market Alerts > Trading Halts section of administrative interface you can now add an additional limitation of the type of halt activity. New option includes limiting halts sent when a halt has started, quotes have resumed and trading has resumed. This is useful if you want to cut back on the amount of alerts sent. For example to only be alerted when a halt starts. Many users also find sending halt and other market alerts to a channel specifically for the type of alert helpful so that the alerts do not interrupt channels intended primarily for chat.

In the administrative interface, for those form fields that allow linked channels to be inserted, you can now place your cursor in the message where you want a linked channel to appear, select the desired channel from the drop down form field above the message and the code for the channel will be inserted into your message. The code inserted will be in the format required to create a linked channel in the message. For example:

<#270287543185047553>[#ChannelName]

The <#270287543185047553> contains the channel id and is what creates the linked channel. The [#ChannelName] text is inserted to help remind you of what channel the inserted code before it is for. It will not be displayed in the message sent by the bot if left unedited. It may be deleted if you desire.

In the Members > Log Member Messages section you can have a duplicate of join/left/kicked/banned/unbanned member messages sent to a channel in your server. If a server has original member messages set to delete automatically after a certain period, it would be useful for moderators who missed them to view the logged copies so they can see what member activity occurred when they were gone.

All custom message form fields now support up to 20,000 characters. Since the maximum message length Discord allows is 2000, any custom messages longer than 2000 will be split into up to 10 separate messages sent one after another. Messages will be split at the first line break <= 2000 characters into message so will not split your message in the middle of a word, sentence or paragraph.

Due to recent changes at Discord, servers using StockBot that previously had joined, left, kicked, banned or unbanned messages enabled AND had not specified a channel to send them to will need to type admin command in a text channel of your server to enable or re-enable them as specifying a channel to send them to is now required in order for them to be sent.

There are some bot permissions that are required to be enabled in the bot's role in order for:

1) The bot to be added and remain in a server.
2) Proper operation of some commands and features.

It is thus recommended to not change the default permissions in the StockBot role or if they have already been changed, restore them to the defaults. The defaults are to have all permissions enabled in the StockBot role and have the role dragged above all others that do not have Administrator permission. Doing so will prevent all permissions related issues.

If you insist on disabling some permissions, please at least view the URL below for a more detailed explanation including what features require what permissions.

1) Enables you to include <InviteURL> code in your custom message sent to members that leave your server on their own (not banned or kicked). This can make it easier for them to rejoin if they wish to in future. Can also include in customized direct message sent in rules, terms, privacy, faq and contact commands.

In the General > Error Log section you can view any errors the bot encountered when interacting with your server. To prevent future repetitive errors when accessing the Discord API, bot features related to the error may become disabled when the error occurs so it is important that you address any error log issues before re-enabling any affected features. Most errors are permission related, so please take a moment to type the !permissions command in a text channel of your server to verify you have the correct permissions setup for the bot.
